Lessons can take place online, at your home, or at my classroom in Uffculme (near Exeter). Lessons will typically last 1 hour, beginning with a recap of the previous week's learning, introducing the new objective, practising the new skill together with increasing independence, and finally tying this into the rest of their learning journey.
All materials can be provided at face-to-face sessions. I will provide a folder for my pupil to keep their learning and bring it to future sessions. If you want to bring homework or something from school that your child has found tricky, we can look at it together.
I aim to be flexible, and will always try to find an alternative time for your child's lesson. Cancellations made without 48 hours notice will be subject to a cancellation fee, equalling one hour’s lesson charge.
I will send an invoice monthly in arrears for payment via online banking. Payments within 7 days are appreciated.
I always prefer to have the first meeting with a child and their parent/carer together. I believe this helps me and the child to form a positive relationship, and for us all to understand what we are hoping to achieve. I also know how important it is as a parent/carer to feel comfortable and trusting of everyone in their child's life. This session will be around 30 minutes and is free of charge. I will ask both you and your child how things are going, and which areas you both feel need support.
After this session, I will put together a learning plan, which I will email to you for you to approve.
The next time we meet, your child will complete a very short, informal assessment, before we begin their first lesson. This will enable me to ensure your child is making progress.
Yes, I can provide any certification you wish to see at our first meeting.
